Ok so here is what I don't get - if the lag outs/err7s were not part of Anets issue then why is GW running so smoothly for me now after this latest update (HA) as to where before I couldn't get ANYTHING done because of err7s and lagging to a standstill.
Now since then I have had some cable modem lag - that I am always aware of when it happens (or at least 9 times out of 10) and the lag caused from it never "bumps me" it just makes me stand still for a min. If/when its my modem or ISP, I typically won't lag before being booted - I will just stop and not be able to move, nothing but health bars will move and then it says err7 or it stays on and everything goes back to normal (if I'm still alive).
For those who say defrag the dat - mine didn't need defragging it had one file that needed defragging and didn't even want to move it!
All I know is with the last update things are running smoother and so thusly my guess would be buggy updates.
Curse You, in case you didn't do any real backreading, here is the latest from Anet - the problem is NOT peoples computers but its either something within Anet or a backbone/long distance router issue. Basically nothing that we as customers can fix atm. Gaile posted so herself.
People if you aren't going to read then please don't bother to troll.

Same thing happened ~6 months ago. Its going to get worse before it gets better. Anet will completely deny it. As a new chapter approaches a % of the server power needs to be migrated to cover the new chapter. As % increases toward release time, whats left becomes increasingly more crowded and prone to lag/disconnects.
And as a side comment to the original post: What kind of screwed up logic could possibly make someone become more upset about d/c ing from a Gaile Grey chat than a GvG?

Well, I thought the lag had finally left GW alone, untill I did some AB's over the past 2 days. And it's DEFINATELY not my comp.

Might as well bump this thread. I'm seriously considering leaving my beloved GW and moving on to greener (and less laggier(?)) pastures. Getting err 7's left and right now, and every other game, websites, whatever are still perfect. I'm gonna miss this place if I have to go, but I can't take it anymore. The fact that so many people have experienced this recently (seems to me since the Germany tourney) has made me believe the devs have really screwed something up. With Nightfall coming soon, I can only assume more people will join and it will get worse. I hope not. /end whiney, bitchy thingie

Well since todays update I have had one instance where lag was just hideous! Both me and my mate had it but his stopped bugging out and he was able to continue but I was rubberbanding, trade wouldn't open, it said he was dieing constantly - now if the henchies used things like charge, I was "affected" but I couldn't go anywhere or pick up any of my items. This went on for 10mins and while it was really comical for the first 5mins... It soon had me worrying if I would be able to finish capping and that's just annoying >_<
Like I said before with the update for the double fame weekend everything was GREAT! Rare lag but nothing huge... With todays update, I feel suddenly scared again that I might not get to play much.... It's only been on one occassion thus far so I'm willing to wait it out.

I haven't Err 7'd since last week. So I've no clue what's happening. I do get a bit of lag sometimes, but that's on my end. Last week it wasnt' though, because I wasn't running anything similar as I was today. The past 2 weeks before this were pretty bad. 2-8 err 7's a night. Mixed wth 1-10 minute lags.

Think about it, if Anet allows lag that drives away players, they benefit by having fewer players on their servers. So, playing for "free" might not be all it's cracked up to be. You buy the software and then find the servers too crappy to play on. If you don't think companies do things like that, you haven't been on this planet the past few years - lol.

well despite my more reasonable and sensible post from before i cant help but recommend this quick fix to the lag without incurring any server cost from Anet side by just merely adjusting these variables:
Reduce all chest drops to purple items with 1/10000 gold items
All gold items will Salvage into materials
All mobs drop 80% less gold cash.
collector parts only drop in 1/10000 chance
Green drop rate decrease to 1 for every 100 full teams.
You auto fail the mission if anyone in your team dies.
You will drop all your equiped items and lose 50% exp and gold each time you die in PvE or PvP.
Earn 1 fame only each time you win HoH and 2 guild rating for each GvG win.
Hmm lets call its the Guild Wars Lag Liberation Update: Guild Wars - Hardcore
*logs into Guildwar and experience lag free gaming but see no one around and start to wonder why*
/end sarcasm

I have heard more complaints over the last few months (especially from guild members and forums) but however i have not yet noticed a change in laggyness.
Edit: Just noticed 2 lag spikes wich freezed GW down for a min or so :/

To me, it seems the lag greatly increased with the Nightfall PvP event and hasn't gone back down since. I'm not the only one who feels that way either.

yesterday I logged on to GW and instanly was lagged so much that I couldn't move. After I restarted GW it seemed to be fine until I started a mission. Everytime I cast it would take 4-6 seconds before everything started to move again. The lag seems to be aroung 6:00- 7:00 central. To my surprise I didn't get a 007 last night, that is the 1st in about 2 weeks. I just hope the issue is fixed before nightfall.

anet does need to fix the problem on thier end, it is real, i wish you people would stop saying, "rofl its your isp, STFUPLSKTHX" ,as if u know anything.
3-5 people err7 out of a gvg from all over the world at the exact time several times this week.
gee i guess they all must have laggy isp with massive pl, but ony at the exact same time and the odds of that are only, 3 million to 1

I'm still doing heavy rubberbanding but after it clears up I usually don't see it again for the rest of the evening.
Overclocked I feel your pains... If we all have crappy computers and isps then I would like to know where people got thier uber leet PCs >_>

This is I believe NC Soft's servers. I give up posting about this being they really don't give a s*** a-net or nc soft about this problem. They can give away 100K+ in prizes but can't buy more servers, which it seems they are full to capacity, I myself just now have had 3 error 007's in a row in 5min time. Seems like every week theres something. I give up.....
